“Flea Market to Benefit Youth and Community Programs”

An outdoor Flea Market to benefit youth and community programs will be held at the site of the Q.P. Market Place located at 42-16 West Street between Queens Blvd. and Jackson Avenue on Saturday, July 24th . Community residents are urged to come out and support this event because the proceeds will help to fund youth and community activities at the same location. This is a grassroots neighborhood-based effort to enhance the quality of community life through the arts and education.

“Parent-Child Playgroup Series”

Plans are underway to offer Parent-Child Playgroups featuring art, music and movement. The playgroups are parents with young children between three and five years of age. The parent-child pairs will be engaged in interactive activities that promote creativity and self expression within a format that is fun and educational. Classes are to begin in August and enrollment opens Saturday, July 24th. a materials fee of $35 for the four sessions is the only charge. Interested parents should come to the Space, located at 42-16 West Street, between Queens Blvd. and Jackson Avenue (former site of the Q.P. Market Place) between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm. Space is limited, so parents are urged to come early.

“Living Artists Series Begins”

Long Island City, Sunnyside and Woodside are richly endowed with culture and art. Another addition to the thriving art scene is The Space, located at the former site of the former Q.P. Market Place (42-16 West Street, between Queens Blvd. and Jackson Avenue). To introduce community residents to the array of talented artists in and around the area, a “living artists” series of art exhibitions is being launched on Friday, July 23rd at 7:30 pm. This event is free and community residents are encouraged to attend.
